Receive Low Carbon Travel and Transport Challenge Fund updates

Transport Scotland’s Low Carbon Travel and Transport Challenge Fund is now open for Round 3 applications.  Energy Saving Trust administers the fund on behalf of Transport Scotland.

Public, community and third sector organisations can apply for funding under the European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020 Programme to facilitate the delivery of active travel and low carbon transport hubs, as well as paths.

For Round 3, £2.48 million ERDF funds are available for projects from the Highlands and Islands (H&I) area and £5.95 million of ERDF are available for projects from the Lowlands and Uplands (LUPS) area of Scotland. Transport Scotland is also making available a limited budget to support a proportion of the match funding requirements of projects.

Transport Scotland has made the following changes to the criteria for the third funding call:

  • The total eligible projects costs maximum threshold has been removed for the third round of funding. Transport Scotland’s match funding support, however, is only applicable to eligible project costs up to £2m, regardless if the total project costs are higher. Therefore, Transport Scotland’s match funding support enables organisations, with projects not exceeding £2M, to bid for up to 80% (in H&I) or 70% (in LUPS) of the maximum project value stated above. For projects that exceed £2m, only ERDF contribution of up to 70% in H&I and 40% in LUPS will be available for the proportion of projects costs over £2m, without Transport Scotland contributing any further funding.
  • Projects must be completed by September 2022.

Please note the deadline for all applications is Friday 25 October 2019, 4 pm.

We are hosting a series of events to support applicants:
