Johnson Matthey DPF-CRT® and CCRT® Continuously Regenerating Trap
The CRT® has been successfully applied to hundreds of thousands of vehicle and machine retrofits. These passive systems are suitable for use with a wide range of non-road machinery, engine power ranges and engine emission levels. Whether they can be used depends partly on how hard the engine is working during the normal operation. This affects the exhaust gas temperature which needs to be above a certain level for 50% of the time for reliable soot removal. The other factor is the balance of NOx to particulate level in the exhaust gas, which is often determined by the certified emissions level of the engine. The CCRT® system has the filter coated with catalyst as well as having the CRT® Diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) in front of the filter, and this extends the operating window of the system to lower temperatures and NOx:PM, compared to the CRT®.
