Community renewables

SCHRI for communities is a one-shop that offers help at every stage of developing a renewable energy project. SCHRI for communities has two main components:

  • An advisory and project management service that provides expertise in developing renewable energy projects
  • A funding stream that provides financial assistance for capital projects and development initiatives such as feasibility studies.

The SCHRI for communities is delivered jointly by the Energy Saving Trust and Community Energy Scotland.

The Energy Saving Trust and Community Energy Scotland each manage a team of SCHRI Development Officers who are responsible for advising community organisations on how to develop their projects. Development Officers are specialised staff who promote community renewables by providing expertise on relevant funding, planning and legislative issues to help get projects off the ground.
