The European Energy Services Directive aims to improve energy end-use efficiency in all sectors.
The Energy Efficiency Agreement requires the Government to place an obligation on energy suppliers, including transport fuel suppliers, to provide and promote fuel efficiency improvement measures and/or fuel efficiency audits to their customers.
The Department for Transport (DfT) has worked with fuel retailers to develop the Energy Efficiency Agreement to meet the Directive requirements. The Agreement applies to anyone who sells road transport fuel to the end-user. In signing the Agreement, fuel retailers agree to ensure their customers have access to fuel efficiency measures or fuel efficiency audits, and to promote them.
