How does the Home Insulation Scheme work?

Teams of Home Energy Assessors will work their way across each of the ten areas to benefit from the scheme from November 2009 to 31st March 2010 (inclusive), taking a street-by-street, door-by-door approach.

Home Energy Assessor visits finish in your area on 31st March so act now to benefit from the scheme.

You can engage with the scheme either online, by telephone or with the Home Energy Assessor on your doorstep.

If you live in one of the ten areas to benefit from the scheme, you will be given prior notice of when Home Energy Assessors will be in your area.

You will be offered a home energy audit, advice on making your home more energy efficient, and information on other advice and services from the Energy Saving Trust.

If your home is suitable, you'll be offered cavity wall and loft insulation at a specially negotiated price, or even free of charge to certain eligible households*. Those with existing loft insulation will also be offered top-up loft insulation free of charge, irrespective of the size of the loft.

If you need additional support to install insulation, for example your loft cleared or scaffolding, we may be able to help.

*Principally households in receipt of qualifying benefits or those aged 70+. Trained advisors can discuss the full qualifying conditions with the householder.
