Installing condensing boilers 'will reduce carbon output'
Switching boilers could be the most significant home improvement a homeowner makes in their attempts to be more environmentally-friendly.
This is the opinion of Neil Schofield, head of sustainable development at the Worcester Bosch Group, who claims that tackling domestic heating is one of the fundamental ways consumers can help the environment.
The organisation states that a boiler that is older than 15 years old is only 65 per cent efficient and adds that replacing a boiler could reduce domestic carbon output by 1.1 tonnes per year.
Indeed, Mr Schofield emphasised the fact that some £250 per year could be saved on heating bills if the change was made.
"One of the biggest improvements you can do is when you replace your old boiler to have an A-rated condensing boiler," he said.
In addition, the company's A Greener Future guide states that fitting both a condensing boiler and solar thermal panels could save 1.7 tonnes of CO2 every year.
