Condensing boilers 'save money and energy'

UK consumers could save energy by installing a condensing boiler, it has been highlighted.

According to a Guardian report, householders who have had a boiler for ten years or more could make significant savings both financially and environmentally.

When considering the fact that the average price of energy is 3p per kilowatt, some £303 in fuel bills could be saved every year by installing such a device, the news source states.

Meanwhile, as much as 1.92 tonnes of CO2 could be reduced from the atmosphere if a household with a mid-70s boiler switched.

In addition, acquiring controls to better regulate central heating systems could also reduce homeowners' carbon footprints. The Energy Saving Trust maintains that 80kg of CO2 could be saved by installing a cylinder thermostat, for example.

As part of the governmental requirements set out in the Building Regulations, all householders in the UK who decide to replace their existing boiler have to opt for a condensing model.
