New TrACE tool for recording area CO2 savings
The Energy Saving Trust has launched a new tool - TrACE (Tracking Action on Carbon Emissions). Aimed primarily at English local authorities that need to record CO2 saving evidence for National Indicator 186, it is also useful for any local authority in the UK that wants to monitor and report on carbon saving actions. For English local authorities TrACE will:
- Record progress against the Local Area Agreement NI 186 target
- Provide a coherent evidence base to the Audit Commission for Comprehensive Area Assessments
TrACE is currently available as a spreadsheet which includes full guidance on how to enter data. For more information and to download the spreadsheet, go to the TrACE web page.
The Energy Saving Trust is also developing systems to combine and aggregate the data so that multi-LA, regional and national comparisons can be made and to help in the identification of good practice and national progress. In the longer term it hopes to be able to use this data to allow local authorities to benchmark their performance against other similar councils.
