Energy services schemes are either partnerships between housing associations, local authorities and energy suppliers or stand alone projects established by interested organisations. They consist of a package of supply and efficiency measures, including advice and access to funding such as grants or interest-free loans. Ideally they're provided by one company and the customer gets a single bill. We promote energy services in the domestic and small users sectors in the UK.
Support
We can help you develop your own energy services scheme. We even offer free in-house consultancy, as well as presentations. Email us or call our helpline on 0844 84 888 30 to find out more.
The Energy Saving Trust offers a range of support materials including:
- The energy services directory - a comprehensive guide to setting up an energy services scheme.
- An affinity deal toolkit - guidance to set up an energy services affinity deal or preferred supplier partnership.
- The energy services review - looks at the background and drivers of energy services, reviews active energy services schemes serving the residential sector in the UK, and considers what lessons may be learnt from similar community service models.
Energy services schemes offer benefits for:
- Consumers - warmer homes, lower bills and better access to the advantages of the competitive energy market.
- The environment - they reduce energy consumption and lower the carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to climate change.
- Local authorities - helping to meet their responsibilities under the Home Energy Conservation Act, to tackle fuel poverty and to improve housing stock.
- Housing associations - lowering energy bills, improving housing quality and services for tenants.
- Energy suppliers - providing an added value service helps to retain existing customers, attract new ones and meet Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT) obligations.
Funding
Under the CERT, energy suppliers are encouraged to support and provide funding to energy services schemes. Contact an energy supplier for details.
