The Scottish fuel poverty indicator has been developed to assist Scottish local authorities in the preparation of their fuel poverty strategies. Using variables from the 2001 Census, it indicates which wards in each local authority area are most/least at risk of containing households in fuel poverty.
The results have been mapped graphically. The national map of Scotland shows individual local authorities scores against the Scottish average. The more detailed ward level maps present each individual local authority ward scores against the respective local authority average. The following colour key has been used:
- red: wards most at risk from fuel poverty;
- yellow: wards with an above average percentage of fuel poor households;
- green: wards with a below average percentage of fuel poor households;
- blue: wards least at risk from fuel poverty.
