Britain's Green Voice

Gardening

The search is over to find Britain's Green Voice 2009

The votes have been counted and the winner of this years Green Voice of the UK 2009 is Piper Terrett from Essex.

Here's Piper’s winning video.

The Energy Saving Trust wanted to find someone who could speak up for the 'man on the street' on green issues - become Britain's voice on 'being green'. The people voted and Piper was announced the winner today at 10am at an event at Portcullis House, Westminster with Energy and Climate Change Minister, Joan Ruddock. Pipers first task was to grill Energy and Climate Change Minister, Joan Ruddock with questions from the UK public.

For the next year the Piper's new role as the Green Voice of the UK will entail:

  • Becoming the independent voice of Great Britain on living in a low carbon way
  • Becoming a consultant to the Energy Saving Trust
  • Will be responsible for representing the views of the UK-wide Green Ambassadors
  • Attend high profile events throughout the year
  • Will act as a media spokesperson and become the voice of the consumer on green issues
  • Regularly contribute opinion and views through the Energy Saving Trust's website

Congratulations to all who entered and we hope even more will apply next year.
