Infrastructure Grant Programme
The Department for Transport funds the Infrastructure Grant Programme.
Alternative (i.e. alternatives to diesel or petrol) road fuels offer a means of cutting carbon dioxide and air pollutant emissions, as well as reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Examples of alternative fuels include hydrogen, electricity for electric vehicles, bioethanol (E85 blend) and natural gas/biogas. For fleet operators the cost of installing refuelling or recharging infrastructure represents a barrier to switching fuel use.
As part of the UK Government’s strategy to decrease carbon emissions from road transport, grants are available to encourage organisations to install refuelling or recharging stations for alternative fuels. Funding is available for hydrogen, electric, E85 bioethanol, natural gas/biogas stations and other non traditional fuels.
