Our public policy work

We provide independent evidence-based policy analysis around the areas of household energy efficiency, low-carbon transport, mass market renewables and microgeneration and influence public policy by working closely with key stakeholders and decision-makers including UK Government, the devolved administrations, parliamentary select committees, the European Commission, regulators and other agencies.

We have seconded experts into the Policy Innovation Unit 2003 energy review work, the 2006 energy review, Scottish Government, Welsh Assembly Government, local authority activity, the Market Transformation Programme and the Government team charged with providing a response to the Biomass Task Force recommendations. We have participated in government steering groups for the Supplier Obligation, Energy Efficiency Innovation Review & Personal Carbon Trading.

We undertake major research to inform our policy activities, which are underpinned by our comprehensive evidence-base including detailed evaluations of our own activities. Our current research includes public engagement on climate change issues, existing and new build housing, distributed energy and low carbon transport. Other recent work also included smart metering, the language of climate change, the role of fiscal instruments in energy efficiency and vehicle excise duty, engagement with schoolchildren.
