Car CO2 Internet Survey
How accessible is CO2 information on car manufacturers’ websites?
On average and across all car manufacturer websites, only 52% of participants’ attempts are successful in finding the official CO2 value for a particular car. Even in cases where users are able to retrieve a CO2 value for a particular model, only 68% of these are correct. These figures are remarkably low given that the main sample of respondents is well practised in browsing the internet.
The Energy Saving Trust is calling for car manufacturers' websites to use the fuel economy label next to every car model. Brits purchasing new cars could save over £500m and 1.2 million tonnes of CO2 by buying the most efficient cars.
