Energy Saving Finance
The Energy Saving Trust has begun to signpost customers to 'energy saving' financial products and services on our website. We aim to stimulate the take up of energy saving measures by working in collaboration with financial providers to create schemes specifically aimed at financing low carbon improvements. Our aim is to make it simpler and easier for households to make improvements to their property that reduce energy bills and cut harmful carbon dioxide emissions. This is based on the findings of research into the financial needs of consumers for energy saving measures.
Financing Home Energy Saving Solutions seminar
On 11 March the Energy Saving Trust held a 'Financing Home Energy Saving Solutions' seminar. Over 40 delegates from the Government Department of Energy and Climate Change, Energy Suppliers, Local Authorities, Installation Companies, Consumer Groups, Banks and Building Societies attended the seminar, which included a number of presentations from the Government, the Energy Saving Trust and the findings from an independent large scale research study into financing energy efficiency products.
Delegates were asked to work up potential concepts and solutions for financing energy saving and micro generation within the home. Many interesting ideas came from the workshop discussions, but more importantly, the seminar was an opportunity to raise and discuss ideas and views across organisations with an interest in this area as well as inform the Energy Saving Trust's future strategy in financing home energy saving.
Robert McKinnon, Head of Business Marketing and seminar chair said:
"To have many of the organisations and companies interested in 'green finance' in one room and working together to find possible solutions for the consumer was a real first. The seminar highlighted that in our central and unique positioning, the Energy Saving Trust could play a key role as a catalyst with these organisations, helping them to work together on developing financing solutions for low carbon improvements to properties that reduce energy bills and cut harmful carbon dioxide emissions".
