New services from the Energy Saving Trust
Background
In November 2007, the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown and Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Hilary Benn announced that a range of services to help people 'green' their homes would be made available. The Energy Saving Trust was tasked with developing and delivering this vision of a 'Green Homes service' and our new advice services.

Status update
This page has been updated regularly to provide updates on the progress of the Energy Saving Trust's new advice services as they develop and become integrated into the Energy Saving Trust's extended remit.
March/April 2009
The rollout of our network of advice centres
The roll-out of the network of Energy Saving Trust advice centres and Energy Saving Scotland advice centres is now complete - with 21 new centres in place across the UK, offering people advice on a range of 'green' issues including energy saving, microgeneration, 'greener' transport choices and waste reduction advice. This is a great achievement and all advice centres are now fully operational.
Extension of our Home Energy Check
The first phase of work is complete on improving and expanding our 'Home Energy Check' to include a broader range of advice including waste, transport and microgeneration. Research and consumer feedback identified four main benefits of the Home Energy Check for customers: it can help them save money on their fuel bills, it is impartial, it is free and they can call up the advice line to talk through recommendations. The new HEC questionnaire and report focuses on highlighting these benefits to consumers. Over the next financial year, we will continue to develop the HEC to meet our expanding needs for a twenty first century energy saving advice tool.
Piloting of the Energy Saving Trust Home Action Plan
Signposting to energy saving finance providers
The Energy Saving Trust has begun to signpost customers to green financial products and services. Our aim is to make it simpler and easier for households to make improvements to their property that reduce energy bills and cut harmful carbon dioxide emissions. Targeted advice to homeowners
Energy Saving Trust continues to work with the Department of Communities and Local Government, to secure access to F&G Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) data. Once available, our aim is to give detailed advice to householders in England and Wales on how to improve their home's energy performance and reduce running costs. Access to EPC data has already been granted in Scotland.
