Great British Refurb Campaign

The Energy Saving Trust and campaign partners WWF, and the UK Green Building Council joined Kevin McCloud and Grand Designs Magazine to launch the Great British Refurb in April this year.

The Great British Refurb aims to help consumers better understand energy efficiency, microgeneration and the measures and technologies available to them. We are working to inform people about the options in the marketplace today as well as the implications of installing them in their homes.

Our campaign also seeks to influence government action on efficient refurbishment by urging leaders to make it affordable, accessible and reliable. We kicked off the campaign with a 10,000 strong petition to the Prime Minister asking to Government to do more to help consumers finance green refurbishment in their home.

We are working to ensure installers are qualified and approved to undertake energy efficient and microgeneration refurbishment work.

The Great British Refurb recently hosted programmes at Grand Designs Birmingham featuring Kevin McCloud, Greg Clark MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change and campaign partners demanding political support for immediate action to help consumers finance their own refurbishment projects. Kevin recently lead a group of influential MPs, the Secretary of State for Climate Change, Ed Miliband and Ministers through a sample retrofit project to highlight to value of energy efficiency measures.

Our latest campaign teams up the Great British Refurb and 10:10 to offer a £15,000 ‘home of the future’ retrofit to one lucky winner. Follow this link to enter the competition .
