Key Accomplishments
The Energy Saving Trust is the leading independent organisation working in the UK to help people save energy and reduce their personal CO2 emissions. Our mission is to lead 60 million people to act on climate change.
We continue to deliver significant and increasing savings of CO2 emissions through our range
of activities across the householder, supply chain, local authority and community audiences.
- This year we helped nearly three million people save energy through our website and advice network
- Four out of five of our advice network customers would highly recommend us to a friend or colleague
- As part of Green Homes activity we successfully rolled out our improved advice network on time and on budget during 2008
- Over the past year we have worked in partnership with WRAP to pilot and rollout waste advice across our network
- Working with Waterwise, we have secured EU funding to deliver pilots in water saving advice in London, Cardiff and Edinburgh
- In 2007/08 our work stimulated annual CO2 savings of 1.2 million tonnes and lifetime savings of over 24 million tonnes
- Our average cost effectiveness has improved by 25% over last year - from £2 to £1.50 per tonne of
- CO2 saved
- We achieve a return on investment of 10:1 through our marketing partnerships with retailers and manufacturers
- Energy Saving Week 2008 generated coverage worth £2.5 million - a return on investment of over 30:1
- We certify over 3,000 Energy Saving Recommended products across 30 categories by working with more than 300 manufacturers and retailers
- We provide the leadership and technical guidance demanded by the housing construction industry
- We currently support 80 local authorities with in-depth consultancy advice on reducing CO2 emissions in their locality - and 96% of all local
- authorities recognise the Energy Saving Trust as an authority on climate change
- We currently support 4,500 people on taking action on climate change within their communities - and we're launching an enhanced communities programme in the year ahead
- This year we helped nearly 6,000 organisations save money and CO2 emissions through advice on low carbon transport
- We are ensuring the robustness of household energy efficiency and microgeneration technologies by
- working with Government, energy suppliers and industry on field trials including microwind turbines, heat pumps, advanced heating controls, LEDs and solid wall insulation
- To date, we have administered over 7,000 household grants for microgeneration installations through the Low Carbon Buildings Programme totalling £9.7 million
- From April, we will deliver a one stop shop for energy efficiency and fuel poverty support in Scotland through the Scottish Government's Energy Assistance Package
