Top energy measures taken by Tevez

18 August 2009

Written by Emily Thomas

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has moved into one of the most energy efficient houses in the country.

The footballer has set up home in a £25 million eco-friendly pad, which hosts a variety of energy saving gadgets that can cut fossil fuel usage by up to 75 per cent, according to the Star.

Tevez is renting the five-bedroom property for £12,000 a month and will be offered the choice to buy it after a trial run.

A source told the newspaper: "Carlos has been blown away by the eco-systems in the house. He comes from South America so he knows all about the destruction of the rainforests and is keen to do his bit to save the planet.

"There are loads of energy-saving gadgets in the home such as water devices and heat conservation. He loves it all. He is probably the greenest footballer in the country."

An under-floor system containing hot water has been put in place to provide the house with heating, which operates by using the heat in the ground.

Other energy saving measures includes a rainwater harvesting system to reduce water consumption and a state-of-the-art ventilation system.

By investing in eco-friendly property, homeowners not only reduce their carbon footprint but also reduce their fuel bills.
