Setting realistic aims and objectives
Whilst there are many ways that a community or householder can save energy, not all energy saving measures will be appropriate or suitable to a communities situation. Setting realistic aims and objectives can help you and your community to understand your community carbon footprint and the potential for carbon reduction. Setting targets can also help you to see the impact of your activity.
By understanding your community carbon footprint, you'll be much better equipped to plan specific actions each year to help you to meet the targets you've set.

The Home Energy Check is a quick and easy way to find out what measures you can install in your home to save energy and reduce your carbon footprint. If you complete and return the form you will receive a tailored report on ways to save energy in your home. The Home Energy Check is available online here or from your local Energy Saving Trust advice centre.
This form can also be useful in working out what measures are needed in homes across your community. Your Energy Saving Trust advice centre can provide you with marked Home Energy Checks for distribution around your community. As well as providing the report to everyone who completes a form the advice centre will be able to tell you what home energy efficiency measures are needed in your community (e.g. 20 people need to top up their loft insulation, 30 need cavity wall insulation etc.). This can help you to plan and prioritise your carbon saving actions. For more information contact your local Energy Saving Trust advice centre on: 0800 512 012 |
