We encourage energy efficiency and the integration of renewable energy sources into the economic fabric of our society. To achieve this we promote the use of cleaner fuels for transport and better insulation and heating efficiency for buildings and homes and champion small-scale renewable energy, such as solar and wind power.
Our areas of expertise include:
Strategy
We provide provides independent evidence-based policy analysis around the areas of household energy efficiency, housing, low-carbon transport, renewables and microgeneration, covering the UK, including the devolved nations, and Europe.
Evaluation
Evaluation activities involve both the assessment of the impact of Energy Saving Trust activities (in terms of carbon dioxide saved and other benefits) and gaining an understanding of how this impact has been achieved. This enables, the Energy Saving Trust to:
- Demonstrate progress and achievements of its programmes and activity.
- Scrutinise the effectiveness of its activities which in turn informs the development of future activity, programmes and policy positions.
- Learn from experience and thus continue to add value and improve the effectiveness of the Energy Saving Trust's on-going activity.

Programme development and implementation
We develop and manage programmes on behalf of UK Government, covering awareness raising, provision of advice and support and grants for innovative technologies and techniques.
Independent information
We provide consumers and stakeholders with accurate, independently verified information on the benefits of sustainable energy products and services. We are recognised as a key provider of facts and figures on energy saving and our Energy Saving Recommended database provides users with an up-to-date list of the most efficient consumer products available.
Working with consumers
Our activity includes ongoing marketing campaigns designed to raise awareness of climate change and encourage consumers to reduce their energy consumption through the adoption of energy saving measures and renewable technologies, such as solar PV and wind power.
