New European project launched to promote EV fleets

New European project launched to promote EV fleets Wednesday, 4 March, 2015

A European-wide project, the Incentives for Cleaner Vehicles in Urban Europe (I-CVUE), is reducing emissions in urban environments by encouraging businesses with large fleets to make the transition to electric vehicles (EVs).

Coordinated by the Energy Saving Trust, the project consortium consists of 10 member organisations in the energy and transport sectors to offer advice to urban pan-European fleet operators with free EV usage analysis and consultancy to determine a business case based on a whole-life cost benefit analysis.

It is expected this project will help build a policy framework for governments across Europe to create their own EV incentive programmes and gradually increase the uptake of EVs at a national and local level.

Tim Anderson, Senior Transport Advice Manager at the Energy Saving Trust, says:

“These are exciting times for electric vehicles. We are seeing a clear increase in the uptake of EVs into large-scale fleet operations. And as we undertake this project we will gather knowledge that will encourage the development of new EV fleets across Europe. The Energy Saving Trust is proud to be in the driving seat.”
