It uses no staples, so saves metal and you'll never run out of staples again
According to Wasteonline 'If everyone in UK offices saved just one staple a day, we'd save 72 tonnes of metal a year'. The innovative handheld EcoStapler tackles this by cleverly clipping together up to three sheets of paper without using a staple - it uses a clever cutting and folding action which happens as you clip. Great for home and office - it's pocket sized, and is ideal for attaching cheques to payment slips or where paper clips or staples cannot be used.
I use one of these all the time. You have to make sure you push firmly or else the paper flap it makes doesn't quite get folded in properly, but push way too hard, or try it on more than about four sheets at once, and there's a chance you'll break it. Once you've got the feel, it's easy. The join it makes is fairly strong, but can also be easily pulled apart. In a file, 'ecostapled' paper takes up less room than metal stapled equivalent - which tends to get annoyingly thicker in one corner, so in theory, you could end up using less files.
Price around £4.99
