The Scottish government has been urged to take action on boosting low-carbon transport in the country.
Six environment and transport groups wrote a letter to transport minister Stewart Stevenson calling on him to do something to solve a looming "transport crisis".
Friends of the Earth Scotland, Scottish Association for Public Transport, Spokes, Sustrans Scotland, Transform Scotland and WWF Scotland signed the letter.
"We remain concerned that the Scottish Government's current transport priorities are heavily loaded towards road-building and airport expansion, the very things that have exacerbated the problems we face," the letter read.
Among the suggestions from the group were improving public transport to make the network of trains as good as the best Europe had to offer and to invest more in cycling.
With rising fuel costs, road transport is also getting increasingly expensive. Although prices have since lowered, a surge in crude oil prices saw the fuel reach $147 a barrel in July.
