A scheme to boost the health and reduce the carbon footprint of its participants is to launch in Lowestoft later this month.
TravelSmart Lowestoft will see 25,000 households in the area be eligible for advice on how to travel to reduce congestion on the roads and improve their health.
Representatives for the scheme will contact people on the phone or door-to-door to offer advice on travelling in a clean way.
They will offer walking and cycling maps, bicycle safety training and public transport timetables.
Rachel Purdy, of Sustrans, said: "TravelSmart Lowestoft can help people beat the queues by offering them realistic alternatives to using their cars for some of their everyday journeys."
The project is part of a national programme that has seen a ten per cent decrease in car journeys in some of the areas where it has been put in place.
A similar project in Darlington claimed that walking could replace the car as a means of transport for 21 per cent of journeys around the city.
