BMW has been named Sustainability Partner and Automotive Partner of the London 2012 Games by Lord Sebastian Coe.
The German car giant will work with Olympic officials to deliver a range of low-carbon green transport options.
"Sustainability is a central pillar of our business Therefore we have a natural affinity with London 2012 and its commitment to low carbon and healthy living," said Ian Robertson, BMW board of management member.
He added: "We see our partnership as a major opportunity, over the next three years and beyond, to focus attention on our range of the most fuel efficient premium cars and also to shine a light on the future of individual mobility."
Some 4,000 vehicles are to be provided by BMW to transport a host of Olympic officials including athletes, the media, national Olympic committees and international sports federations.
The car manufacturer has also revealed that it will use the Games as an opportunity to showcase its electric vehicle range.
