Good Energy grows

30 August 2008

The prospect of renewable electricity with no carbon emissions has attracted a growing number of people, Good Energy's financial details reveal.

Electricity sales at the Chippenham based firm, which is the only firm to provide energy which is completely generated renewably, have risne 12 per cent in the first half of 2008 compared to the same period last year.

The company has also attracted 12 per cent more customers, while its turnover rose by 18 per cent.

Chief executive and founder Juliet Davenport said: "All of our customers know that buying from Good Energy means supporting renewable energy generation across the UK, from our own assets and others.

"These results demonstrate the strength of public demand for environmentally sound, renewable energy products."

The company, which is planning on launching a gas product next month, outperforms all other UK companies on renewable generation and carbon emissions.

On average just 4.7 per cent of electricity provided by companies in the UK is renewable, while they emit 0.461 kilograms of carbon dioxide per kWh.
