Eneco Wind UK buys Tullo wind farm

21 November 2008

A wind farm which is expected to start producing energy in 2010 has been acquired by Eneco Wind UK.

The firm has bought Tullo wind farm based near Laurencekirk, Aberdeenshire, from West Coast Energy.

When completed, the project will be able to power up to 9,000 homes annually and have a capacity of around 16 megawatts.

Guy Madgwick, manager of Eneco Wind UK, said: "This marks an important first step for Eneco in the wind industry in the UK.

"Eneco Wind UK has high ambitions in renewable electricity production and we consider the UK an attractive market to contribute to realizing these ambitions. With the acquisition of Tullo we have shown our commitment to the UK market."

West Coast Energy has been working with landowner, GM Barclay & Sons to develop the farm which is believed to have had £9 million worth of investment.

Its turbines will be approximately 100 meters high.
