A massive wind farm project will no longer go ahead after developers pulled out of the project.
Cirrus Energy has said it will not continue to push for the development after concerns over aviation safety were raised.
The proposed Shell Flat off shore wind farm was to be built three miles of the coast of Flyde and would be made up of between 60 and 90 turbines.
According to the plans, the wind farm would be capable of 270 megawatts of energy.
But experts have said that if the proposals were given the green light it would interfere with test flights from BAE Systems at Warton.
As well as concerns over the impact on aeroplanes, the RSPB also objected early on to the project due to the effect it would have on local birdlife.
The organisation was against Cirrus Energy's first planning application on the grounds that it would adversely impact upon the common scoter population.
