Residents of Fylde may benefit from a new green website which has been launched to help individuals and businesses in the area asses their carbon footprint, the Blackpool Gazette has reported.
The website - which was set up as part of the Fylde Low Waste and Energy initiative and supported by Defra's Partnership and Innovation Fund and the Northwest Regional Sustainable Development Group - features a carbon calculator where residents can track the amount of carbon emissions they release.
It is hoped that the initiative will help the region reduce its overall carbon output by 60 per cent by 2025, the new site claims.
The site is set to feature a number of ways to save energy in homes, schools and businesses and will encourage people to cut down on their energy use by exploring alternative transport options, microgeneration technology and recycling programmes.
Until April 4th, residents of the area can also receive an energy-efficient lightbulb when they attend an information session hosted by the Fylde Low Waste and Energy initiative.
