The chief executive of the Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA) has been awarded an OBE for services to sustainable development.
Gideon Amos, who heads up the charity, said he was "absolutely delighted" to have received the honor.
"It is a real accolade for the work the TCPA generally has been able to deliver and the changes it has helped to bring about on regional development, affordable housing and climate change," he said.
The award was presented for Mr Amos' work on encouraging better cooperation between policy makers, industry and the wider community regarding sustainability.
This was done through a number of TCPA projects and reports the Programme for Sustainable Communities which Mr Amos co-authored.
He also edited research paper Connecting England A Framework for Regional Development.
As well as heading up the TCPA, he is also a member of the Planning Advisory Group at the Department for Communities and Local Government as well as being on the government's 2016 Taskforce aimed at building zero carbon homes.
