The government is reiterating its commitment to sustainable living with the announcement of several cash handouts across the country.
Kirklees' Hillhouse community is the latest region revealed to be receiving a share of the Department of Energy and Climate Change's £10 million Low Carbon Communities Challenge fund.
Hillhouse is one of ten areas across the country to benefit from a £500,000 cash boost through the initiative.
Berwick upon Tweed, Blacon and Muswell Hill have also been shortlisted for funding, along with West Oxford, Chale Green, Reepham and Totnes.
"We've had more than 300 communities register their interest with the Low Carbon Communities Challenge, so there's a real appetite out there to save energy to help tackle global warming and save money on fuel bills," said energy and climate change minister Joan Ruddock.
"The ten winning projects will now spend the money on things like community wind turbines, solar panels, heat pumps, insulation or green transport projects to cut emissions."
Under the Climate Change Act, the government is committed to reducing the nation's total carbon output by 80 per cent from 1990 levels by 2050.
