Residents have moved into pioneering eco-homes developed by the Great Places Housing Group in Blackpool.
According to 24dash, the eight energy-efficient properties, which are the first in the north-west to meet level five of the Code for Sustainable Homes, are now fully occupied.
They have been offered at affordable rents to families on Blackpool Council's housing waiting list.
Funded by the Homes and Communities Agency, the properties are located on the Astling Green development in Mereside and feature a number of energy-saving features, including renewable technologies.
Roof-mounted solar panels generate electricity for the homes, while their airtight structures keep heat locked inside and rainwater harvesting systems supply toilets and washing machines.
According to the Great Places Housing Group, the properties are just one level short of being completely zero-carbon.
"We've developed the greenest homes in Blackpool and made them available to young and growing families who'll really benefit from their generous layouts, enclosed back gardens and low running costs," said chief executive Stephen Porter.
The Code for Sustainable Homes is a national standard for the sustainable design and construction of new properties.
It examines properties against nine main categories to give them an overall rating of between one and six.
