One in five homeowners will invest in energy-efficient products for their home over the Easter season, according to a new poll.
Research by B&Q found that many of its customers are looking at means of improving the energy-efficiency of their property, with one in four people opting for draught proofing.
Installing energy-efficient lighting was another popular measure, while 18 per cent of those planning to save energy said they are considering installing a solar panel.
Jo Kenrick, marketing director at B&Q, commented: "This research shows our customers are clearly concerned about environmental issues and taking steps to improve the efficiency of their homes this Easter."
However, only one in ten were found to be planning to improve their insulation, which B&Q described as the cheapest and most effective way of improving a home's energy performance rating.
The firm stated that insulating an average loft costs about £300 and saves up to £220 on energy bills per year.
B&Q also suggested that spending £500 on eco-friendly improvements this Easter could add up to £3,000 to the value of a property.
Recent research by Yorkshire Bank found that one in eight homebuyers would avoid homes that are not energy-efficient, as many are attracted to practical improvements such as cavity wall and loft insulation.
