Scots will be given the chance to learn more about green energy over the next month, thanks to a carbon-busting initiative.
The Scottish Renewables Festival 2009 will take place on June 13th and 14th and will see energy projects around the nation open their doors to the public for the first time.
Participating projects include one of the country's most productive turbines, Burradale wind farm in Shetland, and Argyll's hydro power plant Ben Cruachan.
Jason Ormiston, chief executive of Scottish Renewables, told the Scotsman: "Festival-goers will be able to see large and small renewable energy technologies and perhaps be inspired to get involved and do their own thing to help tackle climate change."
The festival has been organised by the green energy trade body Scottish Renewables and will feature windfarms, hydro power schemes and wood fuel power stations.
Visitors will also be shown small-scale community and household applications of solar power, wood heating, wind power and heat pumps.
