The government should offer more information to households on a scheme that offers free or discounted insulation, according to green campaigners.
In September the prime minister launched the Home Energy Saving Programme, which was designed to help people make reductions to their energy bill by boosting home energy efficiency, but it is not receiving enough publicity, according to the WWF.
Under the scheme, people over 70 as well as some people on benefits are entitled to recieve free insulation for their home.

Speaking at the Grand Designs Live show in Birmingham, Lucy Bertenshaw, senior campaigns officer at WWF said that the problem with the scheme was that not enough people had signed up for it.
Ms Bertenshaw added: "There might be financial incentives but if no-one knows about them then people won't take them up. That is one of the big challenges; to get people to know more about these deals."
According to the Energy Saving Trust, installing cavity wall insulation could save £160 a year and reduce carbon emissions by 800 kilograms a year.
