ExxonMobil is to increase its polypropylene compounding capacity in Europe to meet growing demand.
The petrochemical company will increase the capacity of its Lillebonne plant in France by 45,000 tonnes to meet orders for its lightweight Extraal polyolefin product, which is used in the production of car interiors and under-the-hood applications.
This latest expansion comes after the company last year increased its North American and Asian production capacities with agreements to broaden its operations in Louisiana and Singapore.
Samuel Deboos, automotive and appliance sales manager for polypropylene at ExxonMobil Chemical's European specialty compounds business, said: "This expansion also increases the range of polymers manufactured at LPP. It is yet another demonstration of ExxonMobil Chemical's commitment to meeting the needs of the growing global automotive industry."
Last month, ExxonMobil completed improvements to its natural gas processing facility in the Rocky Mountains which increased its daily capacity from 100 to 200 cubic feet.
