Property owners may wish to improve their home's energy efficiency rating before they decide to sell, an online property portal has suggested.
Recent research conducted by thinkproperty.com indicated that around 80 per cent of UK homeowners feel the government should help to fund environmentally-friendly home repairs, including solar panels and roof insulations.
In addition, properties with a favourable energy performance certificate as part of their mandatory home information pack may also perform better on the market, as the property portal suggested that energy-efficient improvements can help cut back on the costs of domestic electricity and gas.
"With budgets generally tight for home movers with rising energy prices, any evidence of lower energy bills or lower stamp duty could make a real difference to the sale of a property," asserted Suzanne Deakins, thinkproperty.com's head of marketing.
There are currently a number of eco-friendly properties being developed in the UK, including 18 sustainable homes in Somerset as part of Millfield Eco Projects.
