New generation Caddy 'improves fuel efficiency'

27 July 2010

The latest Caddy and Caddy Maxi models from Volkswagen offer an improved fuel efficiency rate, Volkswagen has reported.

According to the manufacturer, the TDI engines on the light commercial vehicles are up to 13 per cent more fuel-efficient than those of the previous generation.

As well as reducing fuel consumption, the vehicles are quieter and reach Euro5 standard in terms of emissions.

Volkswagen recently took the overall prize at the What Car? Green Car Awards.

The Golf 1.6 TDI 105 BlueMotion five-door was named Green Car of the Year.

Professor Stefan Gies, head of chassis development at the manufacturer, received the award on behalf of the company: "Ever since the first BlueMotion model was launched in 2007 our strategy for this environmental sub-brand has been to produce class-leading vehicles which are efficient, sustainable, practical, comfortable and competitively priced.

"This is what our customers want and all these values are encapsulated in the Golf."
