Academy optimistic about renewable energy training courses
A training academy which last year introduced courses on renewable energy is expecting them to be popular this year.
Connaught Academy in Caerphilly, Wales is preparing for a flood of applicants as demand for green power increases.
The college says that it has already had numerous enquiries from engineers looking to enhance their knowledge regarding renewable energy.
Its main focus is on solar water heating which is becoming an increasingly popular sustainable building method.
Its regional workforce development manager Huw Evans told walesonline.co.uk: "People taking the renewable energy course are taught the necessary skills for the design, installation, commission and service of solar powered water systems.
"The qualification enables successful candidates to join a competent person's scheme which allows them to self-certify that their work complies with building regulations without further inspection."
Meanwhile, Machynlleth-based renewable energy company Dulas Ltd has scooped £7 million in funding to provide solar power systems for schools and other public sector buildings.
