Inquiry into windfarm postponed
A public inquiry which is set to lead to a final decision about the construction of a windfarm between West Wratting and Balsham has been postponed.
The Haverhill Echo reported that the 13-turbine windfarm was set to undergo an inquiry next month, but this date has been pushed back by Renewable Energy Systems (RES).
A new inquiry date has not yet been reported, but it is thought RES has been asked to provide further information about the proposed project - including details about noise and wind speed on the site.
Stop Wadlow Windfarm, a campaign group opposed to the proposed development in the area, has applauded this request by the planning inspectorate for RES to provide additional data.
The company's website states that modern wind turbines are "surprisingly quiet" enough to have an ordinary conversation while standing directly at the base.
In addition, it asserts that it "would not locate a turbine where it could cause statutory noise nuisance to local residents".
