Environmental heroes sought
Nominations for environmental heroes are being sought by for an award to recognize inspirational leadership or eco-friendly living.
The Energy Saving Trust is calling for people to nominate their environmental heroes, who could then win up to £20,000 to continue their good work.
A partnership between brands and experts in energy saving, waste and water set up the Future Friendly Awards "to celebrate the local heroes that take small scale, positive action to make a difference".
Nominations will be accepted until January 23rd, after which a panel will narrow down the submissions and pick five finalists.
A short film will be made of each of their achievements and actions, which will then be posted online ahead of a final round of voting for the winner.
The £20,000 reward will be provided half in funds to further the individual or groups continued work and the other half in time with a consultant who will help them further their aims.
Earlier this year energy and climate change secretary Ed Miliband called for 'popular mobilisation' to put pressure on politicians to make combating climate change a priority.
