Energy saving tips suggested

A series of measures have been recommended for consumers who wish to reduce their fuel consumption.

The Guardian has outlined energy saving steps in response to Ofgem figures which state that an average three-bedroom home in the UK could pay over £1,000 for their gas and electricity bills this year.

Rising fuel costs may prompt people to be more energy efficient. One of the ways in which this could be achieved is through the installation of a condensing boiler.

By upgrading heating systems by acquiring heating controls, householders will be able to regulate the temperature of their homes more easily, the news source states.

In addition, insulation of lofts, cavity walls and floors could save £90, £300 and £40 respectively, while double glazing can help to reduce fuel consumption by preventing heat escaping through windows.

Meanwhile, energy saving appliances such as the Energy Saving Recommended branded products are cheaper to run and use less energy.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, domestic double glazing could save around 720kg of CO2 every year.
