CBI, Carbon Trust help businesses
A new partnership has formed to maximise the opportunities for businesses from the need to meet climate change targets.
The Confederation of British Industry and the Carbon Trust have joined forces to help speed progress towards a low carbon economy.
Earlier this month, the CBI urged businesses and the government not to use the economic downturn as an excuse for putting off taking steps to combat climate change.
Working with the Carbon Trust, which was set up in 2001 by the government, the CBI will try to show businesses the opportunities that are opening up as a result of commitments to reduce carbon emissions and increase use of renewable energies.
According to the Carbon Trust: "The partnership will support business through these difficult economic times and beyond to help them integrate emissions reduction into corporate strategy, manage and reduce the direct and indirect emissions and provide a wide range of advice and support for companies of all sizes. "
Last month, Dragon's Den member Theo Paphitis encouraged small businesses to make use of interest free loans from the Carbon Trust to reduce their carbon footprint.
