Electric vehicles heading to London
Next year will hail the introduction of a new range of electric vehicles (EV) to a number of European cities, including London.
Distribution of the TH!NK city cars will begin in 2009 in a move that has been welcomed by the UK government.
The car manufacturer TH!NK is only providing cars to the most EV-friendly cities in Europe in the car's initial roll-out.
Secretary of state for transport, Geoff Hoon said he was "pleased" with the decision, adding: "We want to see more electric and other low emission cars on roads in the UK, as we move towards a low carbon future."
The TH!NK city electric is the only vehicle crash-tested and highway-certified electric car on the planet and around 10,000 will be produced per year.
TH!NK chief Richard Canny said that high demand for the vehicles and the firm's "finite production capacity" means it wants to target sales in European cities that have the "most potential".
"Since EVs are a unique solution for congested urban environments, we will take a city-by-city approach rather than a pan-European or country-by-country approach," he added.
TH!NK is a Norway-based company established in the early 1990s.
