Home Analytics – housing data and analysis
Home analytics is a new service from the Energy Saving Trust that provides essential data and analysis on the UK housing stock to help target retrofit activity. Using data, statistical modelling and GIS, we have developed the first address-level profile of all 26 million homes in the UK in terms of their potential for retrofit measures and key property attributes.
Home analytics provides essential information to help organisations encourage greater levels of retrofit activity and deliver schemes more cost effectively through accurate targeting. Anybody involved in delivering the following schemes would find the data of value:
- Green Deal
- Feed-in Tariffs
- the Renewable Heat Incentive.
Data and analysis available
Housing stock data
|Wall type and insulation||Loft insulation level|
|Glazing type||Fuel type|
|Boiler type||Property type|
|Property age||Property tenure|
|Number of bedrooms||Hard to fill cavity walls|
|Solar PV||Solar thermal|
|Distance to gas grid||Garden size (ground source heat pumps)|
|Distance to nearest biomass supplier||m2 footprint of dwelling|
|Likelihood to undertake retrofit||Ability to pay|
|Trigger points analysis||Funding eligibility (LSOA level)|
|Estimated fuel bills, CO2 emissions, energy use||The optimum package of retrofit measures for each property|
|Estimated fuel bill, CO2 and energy savings||Green Deal 'golden rule' calculations|
We are also developing an interactive GIS and reporting portal. We have showcased the beta version of this tool, which uses GIS to:
- target renewable energy
- understand the housing stock better
- enable better targeting of schemes.
This work is under further development and we hope to have a demonstration available soon to show the possibilities of this model. View our presentation about reducing carbon dioxide emissions in the domestic sector.
