Leadership and serendipity - Birmingham's approach to tackling Climate Change

Be Birmingham, the Birmingham Local Strategic Partnership (LSP), was one of the first LSPs to develop a Climate Change Strategy. A combination of political leadership and serendipity were major factors in this decision. Consultation on the draft Strategy combined public meetings, online voting and focus groups to gain a broad understand of the views of citizens, public sector agencies and the private sector. The findings revealed a high level of concern about climate change. As a result Be Birmingham made a commitment to raise its game and be more ambitious.
