Kent County Council's Select Committee on Climate Change

Kent County Council's Select Committee on Climate Change

Kent County Council's Policy Overview Coordinating Committee decided to establish a cross-party Select Committee on Climate Change in August 2005. Its purpose was to produce a strategic report and recommendations for the Cabinet and full Council. The eight Select Committee members heard evidence from a very broad range of witnesses. The report provided constructive political challenge and support to the Cabinet on a controversial and complex issue. As a result, the Council produced a response to the recommendations in December 2006 that has formed the basis of a new strategic and comprehensive climate change programme.
