Consultation and final approval
Consult more widely on the Action Plan and after final revisions obtain approval from the council leadership.
We suggest that you consult on the draft Action Plan with key stakeholders. Stakeholders would cover any organisations that are likely to have an interest in how the council and / or partnership intends to tackle adaptation and / or mitigation. A workshop or conference might be the best approach. You may also choose to consult more widely with your local community.
Following the consultation a final Action Plan can be prepared and submitted for approval through the relevant channels (e.g. Corporate Management Team, Executive Cabinet, Council, LSP Board etc as appropriate).
- The Leeds Initiative (the LSP) established a structure which enabled almost 100 organisations to contribute to the development of the draft climate change strategy.
- London Borough of Lewisham consulted on their new climate change policy while also communicating about action to take on climate change.
- Woking Borough Council commissioned independent market researchers to consult local people when developing their climate change strategy.
