Undertake initial training
Before beginning the process of preparing an Action Plan it is a good idea to ensure that all those involved have an introduction to:
- the evidence for climate change and how it might impact on your local area
- the national, regional and local policy context
- what local authorities can do to address the impacts of climate change (adaptation) and reduce greenhouse gas emissions (mitigation)
- the process for developing a climate change Action Plan
You could, for example, hold a half-day or day-long training event or workshop involving the Action Plan team and possibly others such as interested Elected Members and Senior Managers from the Council and representatives from LSP partners. You may to choose to run the workshop yourselves or to involve external facilitators.
There are resources throughout this website that can help you to prepare a workshop. See:-
